Standards for effective stewardship of donor and grant funds

These standards are designed following 19 years experience in financial operations and risk assessment in banking and 15 years experience in non-profit work.

1. All processes involving monetary movement must be documented in written procedures

2. Where possible, dual control is implemented on all financial processes

3. Reporting is accurate and reviewed by at least one person performing oversight of financial activities, seperate from financial activity processor

4. Controls are in place to identify errors and fraud

5. Processes and reporting are in place to ensure all funds received from a grant are used exclusively for awarded grant purposes
